Children in Thailand need loving adoptive families
Holt began its efforts to assist the children of Thailand in 1975, establishing a partnership with Holt Sahathai Foundation (HSF). HSF serves a large number of vulnerable children through a variety of programs including adoption, pregnancy counseling, foster care, educational sponsorships and outreach services for children in hospitals and orphanages. Many of these programs help birth families to stay together through counseling and assistance.
HSF’s strong foster care program provides a highly nurturing environment for children who are likely to need adoptive families outside of Thailand. Most children are cared for by foster families until the adoptive families come to bring them home. Because of Holt’s long- term and broad range of programs in Thailand, it enjoys a strong and long standing relationship with the Thai Department of Social Development and Welfare which oversees intercountry adoption in Thailand. Holt also works with the Thai government to place some children from institutions.
Holt’s staff in the U.S. and Holt Sahathai’s staff in Thailand provide individual assistance to parents through every step of the adoption process and support parents and children as they begin their lives together as a family.
