Hope for Children Act HR 622 Passes House Ways and Means Committee

The Hope For Children Act HR 622, legislation to double the tax credit for adoption expenses, was approved yesterday by the House Ways and Means Committee. The legislation passed out of the committee was amended from the original Hope for Children Act.
The amended legislation will:
Double the current tax credit from $5,000 to $10,000
Make permanent the adoption tax credit for international adoptions
The amended legislation will NOT:
Include Special Needs Adoption Provision
Include Cost of Living Adjustment
The amended version of HR 622 is expected to go to the House of Representatives for a vote next week.

Contact your individual members of Congress:
- Ask for their support of HR 622, The Hope For Children Act, when it comes to a vote next week.
- In addition, ask that they support the inclusion of the Special Needs Adoption Provision to meet the needs of families adopting U.S. children with special needs.
